GRAND JUNCTION, CO —The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management (DOE-LM) announces the availability of the 2005 Annual Site Inspection and Monitoring Report for Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act Title I Disposal Sites and the 2005 Annual Site Inspection and Monitoring Report for Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act Title II Disposal Sites reports.

In 2005, DOE-LM was responsible for providing long-term surveillance and maintenance services at 24 uranium mill tailings disposal sites established under Title I and Title II of the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act of 1978. Services include conducting site inspections and maintenance; monitoring environmental media and implementation of institutional controls; conducting necessary corrective actions; and performing other regulatory, administrative, records, and stakeholder participation functions. The annual reports present a summary of the long-term surveillance and maintenance services performed in 2005 and verification that these disposal sites remain in compliance with license requirements.

Copies of the annual reports have been sent to information repositories associated with the
Title I and Title II sites. These reports are also available on the DOE website at http://www.lm.doe.gov/pro_doc/guidance_reports.htm. Inspection reports for individual sites are
accessible by clicking on a specific state on the map or selecting a site in the dropdown box at http://www.lm.doe.gov/land/sites/sites_map.htm.
