The Office of Legacy Management (LM) is evaluating its custodial sites, with legacy radioactive waste remaining from private industrial efforts that once supported national defense, research, and civilian power generation programs for reuse potential for renewable energy power production. Only those sites with suitable land buffer zones to surround low-level radioactive material in disposal cells and monitoring systems are under consideration. The following is a potential former uranium mill tailing site now under LM custody for surveillance and maintenance that could be reused for renewable energy production.
