Plant 5, the Metals Production Plant, received uranium tetrafloride (UF4) from Plant 4 and the Pilot Plant. The UF4 was blended with magnesium granules and heated in furnaces to produce uranium metal. The D&D of Plant 5 will consist of surface decontamination, building and equipment dismantlement, size reduction of building material and the containerization of all construction debris. The project is expected to be complete by May 2001.
