Fernald Archive Photos

The following photos of Fernald’s uranium production operations are a sample of photos that are available on the Department of Energy (DOE) Digital Archive Web site at: www.doedigitalarchive.doe.gov. The DOE photo archive contains hundreds of photos of Fernald's uranium production mission (1951-1989), ongoing cleanup and restoration projects, remediation technologies, community relations and education outreach activities.

To access Fernald’s section of the DOE photo archive, click on www.doedigitalarchive.doe.gov.  From the home page, click on “Enter as Guest” and then “Search.”  Visitors may then select “Simple Search,” “Advanced Search,” “Time Search” or a combination of options described below: 

1.      To access Fernald’s complete section of the DOE photo archive, type “Fernald” under “Simple Search” and click “Search” or the Enter key on your keyboard.  Visitors may also access Fernald’s section through “Advanced Search” by clicking the arrow near “DOE Site,” selecting “Fernald CLosure Project,” then clicking “Search.”  

2.      To access a specific photo or category of photos from Fernald, such as “silos,” select “Fernald Closure Project” under “Advanced Search,” type the subject (“silos”) under “Simple Search,” and then click “Search.”  The Advanced Search offers additional search options, including image identification number or photo date.

3.      To narrow the search based on a time period (year, decade, etc.), enter the information as stated in #2 above and then enter the date or time period under “Time Search” and click “Search.”
