CERCLA Five-Year Review


The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has completed the fourth fourth Five-Year Review at the Mound, Ohio, Site, as required by Section 121 of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 (SARA). This act requires that remedial actions that result in any hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants remaining onsite at levels that do not allow for unlimited use and unrestricted exposure be subject to a five-year review.
The purpose of the Five-Year Review is to ensure that the remedies that were implemented to clean up the site continue to be protective of human health and the environment.
Community input and feedback is integral to the document development process.
