Fernald plans to transport approximately 45,000 cubic yards of low-level radioactive waste by truck to the Nevada Test Site (NTS). The waste stream includes mostly rubble, trash, debris and residues. The waste is generally classified by the Department of Transportation as radioactive, low specific activity material. Low-level waste shipment to NTS will continue through 2008 at an average frequency of 8 to 10 trucks per week.
